How to Detoxify One Day At A Time

Detox is the process of eliminating toxins and chemicals from the body. There are many ways to do this. One thing we'll be reminding you of is to be wary of fad diets and quick-fix detox routines that promise a healthier you. Do a little research and consult with your doctor before considering them as options.
Your local wellness spa might have detox programs that they can tailor just for you. However, if you do not have the luxury of time to spend hours in the spa, then you're better off having a lifestyle change. Read on for more bits and pieces. Keep in mind, though, that this takes commitment, perseverance, and resistance to a higher level.
1. Drink plenty of water
Water flushes out toxins in your body without leaving any harmful residue. More importantly, it keeps your body hydrated which is necessary in warm weather. One tip to remind you of this: Place water bottles in strategic places. Put one in your hand bag, one on your desk, another in your car, and a last one beside your bed. This way, you see it all the time and it reminds you to drink and be merry.
2. Take in fiber
Include fibers in your daily diet. Fibers flush out toxic solids from your body. It does this by regulating your bowel movements. At least 1 ounce a day of fiber is needed for your body to effectively remove waste and keep your insides clean and healthy.
3. Avoid alcohol and smoke
Alcohol and smoke are generally viewed as unhealthy. Only a clean and healthy diet can assure you that you'll have to do as little as possible to prevent the deterioration of your lungs and kidneys.
4. Steer clear from household items that contain chemicals
Household items like mattresses, asbestos, paint, and other whatnots may contain small traces of chemicals such as lead and pesticide. Before making a purchase, check the materials used in the manufacturing of the product. Likewise, this practice is also applicable when grocery shopping. Makeup, mattresses, tampons, even children's toys might contain small traces of chemicals that, when accummulated, may become harmful for the body.
5. Take vitamin C at healthy doses everyday
You don't want to get sick on a big day, do you? Avoid this either by taking daily doses of vitamin C supplements or incorporating citrus fruits like oranges and lemons into your diet. It helps your immune system fight disease and protect you from catching that cold virus that's hanging out in your office.
6. Practice yoga, or take up an exercise routine
It's true that we all need exercise. In fact, it's one of the best stress relievers that you can ever employ. It takes your mind off the stress, triggers your brain to release chemicals that calm your senses, and tones your muscles. If you don't have time to hit the gym or go jogging, you can do it little by little by walking to the office, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or simply leaving the car home to do errands in the city.
They say that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. This somehow holds true in that maintaining a daily habit of eating and living healthy will help your body fight against sickness. Detoxifying everyday should be no big burden if you make it a habit, so you better start now!
