Makeup to try: Airbrush Makeup

There are just about a few occasions where you have to go all out on the makeup- like the red carpet, of course. Weddings, galas, balls, (or perhaps an interview with Ellen) these are events where you don your Carolina Herreras, Louboutins, and Versaces. Of course, you also have to wear your Chanel No. 5 for these.

But let's take a cue from some of Hollywood's best and take makeup seriously. As in dead-serious. They may have the best makeup artists money can afford, but they all have one secret for events like these: Airbrush makeup.

Also called High Definition makeup, this technique is popular among television personalities and makeup artists because of the ease with which it is applied. Industrial-strength sprays was used to apply makeup on a whole cast for films and television, but with the advent of lighter sprays, this form of makeup became available to ordinary individuals like you and me.

There are kits available for home use, but I would suggest you go to a professional or to a salon that offers this kind of service to get the full effect. This is because the whole process needs precision that can only be acquired through hours, even years, of training. What's more, salons offer a wider range of colors, shades, and tones that you can choose from.

Airbrush makeup lasts longer than your ordinary powder or liquid foundation can, thus it give you more bang for the buck for uber special occassions where you need to spend for professionally-done makeup. It gives a lighter yet even coat to the skin making it look pore-less. That porcelain finish is what HD makeup is most known for.

There are six different formulas that are used for different purposes. Water based formulas are used for shorter wear, while silicone-based formulas are used for longer wear. Alcohol-based formulas are used to replicate tattoos for films while  Polymer-SD40-alcohol base formulas are used for situations when quick drying is needed. Lastly, Polymer-water-based formulas are for that lasting coat of makeup on the skin.

Didn't think it would be that complicated, eh? Well, that's one reason it is done by professionals. So the next time you need an uplift for the red carpet, you know who to call.
